Why people come back

Why people come back rather than shop around

A barber shop lives or dies on whether the same person is in the chair next time and remembers what you asked for.

Asked for the same cut I always get and got the same cut I always get. That is the whole review.

Walked in at ten past five on a Thursday and was out by six. Nobody made me feel like I had turned up wrong.

Booked my son in for his first proper cut. They took twenty-five minutes over a twenty-five dollar haircut.

The shop

A shop, not a chain

Ninth Street opened on Grant Avenue in 2016 with one chair and a second-hand mirror. There are three chairs now and the mirror is still the same one. We cut hair, we know the regulars by name, and we close on Sundays because everyone should.

  • Three barbers

All licensed in Pennsylvania, all here most days of the week.

  • Parking on Grant

Free on the street, and the lot behind the building after 5.

  • Kids welcome

Booster seat, and nobody minds a bit of noise.

Before you come in

What people ask at the door

Not answered here? Call the shop and whoever is free will pick up. (412) 555-0148

Do I need an appointment?

No. One chair is kept open for walk-ins every day. Booking guarantees a time and a barber; walking in guarantees neither, but usually works.

Can I book a specific barber?

Yes, and most people do. Pick the name when you book and your notes follow you.

What if I am running late?

Call. Ten minutes is fine. Past that the chair goes to whoever is waiting and we will find you the next slot.

Do you cut kids' hair?

Yes, under 12 is $25 and gets a longer slot. Booster seat is there if it helps.

Last thing

Book the chair, or just turn up

Send this and one of us answers it - it does not go to a call centre. If it is quicker to phone, phone.

One of the barbers reads this between chairs. No mailing list, no third party.

That reached the shop.

Somebody answers it between chairs, so give it until the end of the day. If you need a time sooner than that, phone and whoever is free will pick up.
